TALLHEDA addresses the need to strengthen Research & Innovation (R&I) capacity and digital agriculture expertise in widening countries, where Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) continue to face challenges in achieving European levels of scientific excellence and innovation performance. The project supports agricultural HEIs in countries such as Greece and Serbia by enhancing educational quality, improving institutional practices, and strengthening research and innovation capabilities. Through capacity-building activities, knowledge exchange, and institutional development, TALLHEDA contributes to preparing skilled professionals and researchers who can support the digital transition of agriculture across Europe.

TALLHEDA and CrackSense contribute to advancing digital agriculture from complementary perspectives. While TALLHEDA focuses on strengthening the capacities of Higher Education Institutions and developing the skills, knowledge, and research environments needed for the digital transition, CrackSense focuses on supporting fruit growers and orchard managers through a tailored approach that addresses the needs of the grassroots agricultural community. By combining advanced sensing technologies with practical decision support, the project helps improve the monitoring and management of fruit cracking in citrus, pomegranate, table grapes, and sweet cherries.

By combining institutional capacity building with practical technological innovation, the two projects demonstrate the importance of both strong research ecosystems and effective digital solutions in supporting a more sustainable, data-driven agricultural sector.

International Agricultural Fair, Novi Sad (2024–2026)
TALLHEDA and CrackSense jointly participated in the 91st, 92nd, and 93rd International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, engaging with farmers, researchers, students, and industry stakeholders. Through their shared presence, the projects showcased complementary approaches to digital agriculture, highlighting the role of innovation, research, and knowledge exchange in advancing the agricultural sector and promoting Horizon Europe initiatives.

At the Christmas Research & Innovation Green Street event hosted at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, TALLHEDA and CrackSense were showcased alongside other Horizon Europe projects. The event provided an opportunity to engage with students, researchers, and industry representatives, fostering discussions on digital transformation, research capacity, and the future of agriculture.

Both projects were presented at the Bioeconomy Changemakers Festival satellite event, where Future Systems Hub introduced Horizon Europe initiatives to students and academic audiences through interactive presentations and outreach activities focused on sustainable and data-driven agriculture.
