OpenAgri is developing open-source, cost-effective, and energy-efficient Agricultural Digital Solutions (ADSs) that make digital farming technologies accessible to farmers, including those in remote areas. Through co-creation, interoperability, and participatory approaches, the project empowers stakeholders to adopt innovative tools that enhance the sustainability, productivity, and resilience of agriculture. horizon-openagri.eu

OpenAgri and CrackSense share a common goal of accelerating the digital transformation of agriculture through innovative, accessible technologies that support more sustainable farming practices. While CrackSense focuses on developing advanced sensing technologies for the early detection and monitoring of fruit cracking in high-value crops, OpenAgri contributes expertise in open-source digital solutions, interoperability, and the broader adoption of agricultural technologies. By collaborating through knowledge exchange, joint dissemination activities, and stakeholder engagement, both projects strengthen the visibility, uptake, and impact of digital innovation across the agricultural sector.

Promoting Digital Innovation at the International Agricultural Fair

CrackSense and OpenAgri have jointly participated in the 91st, 92nd, and 93rd International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, engaging with farmers, researchers, industry representatives, and other stakeholders. Through a shared exhibition presence, the projects showcased how digital technologies can support more sustainable and resilient agricultural practices while raising awareness of Horizon Europe research and innovation.

As part of the Christmas Research & Innovation Green Street @ UNSFA, CrackSense and OpenAgri were presented alongside other Horizon Europe initiatives at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad. The event provided an informal setting to engage with students, researchers, and industry representatives, encouraging discussions on digital innovation in agriculture and increasing the visibility of both projects.

CrackSense and OpenAgri were featured at the Bioeconomy Changemakers Festival satellite event in Novi Sad, where Future Systems Hub introduced several Horizon Europe projects to students and faculty members. Through presentations and interactive activities, the projects promoted awareness of research and innovation while encouraging dialogue on the future of sustainable agriculture and digital technologies.

Data Stories 360° Podcast Episode with OpenAgri

OpenAgri was featured in the CrackSense Data Stories 360° series through an interview with Luana Centorame, R&D Manager and Agritech Specialist at Agrobit and representative of OpenAgri SIP 10 – SmartCherry.

The conversation explored how smartphone-based decision support systems, AI, and precision agriculture can help cherry growers manage irrigation, fertilisation, pests, and orchard variability, particularly in areas with limited connectivity. It also highlighted the complementarity between OpenAgri’s orchard management and digital farming tools and CrackSense’s fruit cracking risk monitoring and prediction approaches, showing how the two projects contribute to more data-driven, resilient orchard management.
